This local dive club organized and operated by Kohala Divers in Kawaihae was formed in 2010 by popular demand from local residents wishing to have more opportunities to scuba dive and meet like minded dive buddies.
Mission of the Club:
The Kohala Coast Dive club is free to join and welcomes all ocean lovers. We welcome beginner to advanced divers and are sponsored by Kohala Divers in Kawaihae. Our mission is to provide a community that connects divers to each other and encourages eco friendly ocean activities, friendship and fun.
Goals of the Club:
- Promote quality diving for the local scuba diving community.
- Create a “family’ dive club for novice to extreme divers as well as non-divers or family members.
- A club that encourages first time divers to attend and seek dive training to advance skills
- Promote dive safety, education and special interest (photo, deep, cave, night, etc.)
- Promote Eco-Friendly events – beach and dive site clean-ups, etc.
- Offer a forum to share personal dive experiences, skills and knowledge.
- Create camaraderie among “like-minded” divers, family and friends (BBQ, potlucks, dive trips, fun!)
- With the support of Kohala Divers, offer equipment, air, training and dive trip discounts.
- To use a dive club website through meetup.com, to communicate with and between members.
Who Can join?
The club is designed specifically for those who reside on Hawaii Island. Anyone is welcome to join if they care about the ocean and would like exposure to the local dive community. You don't have to be a diver to sign up. Many events encourage divers and non divers and those interested in becoming divers.

The club is free to join.
How do you keep it free?
The Kohala Coast dive club is sponsored by Kohala Divers. Kohala Divers offers this as a community resource and funds the staff to keep it going, supplies for cleanup events and donates discounts for club members on certain days to help support active divers in our community.
How can I support the club so it keeps going?
Try to stay active by joining in events as often as possible.
Offer to volunteer, host a shore dive meet up
Help Kohala Divers keep the club going by using it as your local dive shop for your dive education and ocean equipment needs.
