Discover Scuba with Kohala Divers
Discovering the sport of scuba is an amazing and life-changing experience. At Kohala Divers, your safety is our first priority, and our ratios are set so that you have full supervision by a highly trained professional the entire time. We welcome kids (10 and up), and families to experience scuba. You can trust our conservative practices and 30 + years of experience when choosing us to get PADI instruction.
Who is PADI Discover Scuba Diving a good course for?
If you’re interested in scuba diving, but unsure if you want to enroll in a scuba certification class, or have very limited time to do the required study for earning a certification. Discover Scuba Diving is a good way to test the waters. In a very short time, you’ll learn basic scuba skills and take your first addictive breaths underwater. After a short introduction to Scuba in our private 10ft training pool, you will have the options to
- Join your instructor on a boat diving trip as a Discover Scuba student within a week of completing your pool session.
- Enroll in our full PADI certification class and start your elearning academics and continue your dive education within a year to get fully open water dive certified.
Prerequisites & Minimum Age
- You must be 10 years old or older
Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.
Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. If you review this now it will allow you time to get approved if it necessary.
Discover Scuba Pool
- This is your first step to Discover Scuba
- Available most days at 2:30 PM
- occasional availability for 9:30AM
- Course length - about 2.5 hours.
Cost $145 + tax
Optional Discover Scuba Ocean session
After successfully completing your Discover Scuba pool session you have the option to join your instructor for an ocean diving experience
Ocean dives for those age15 and up.- Guided at a 2:1 ratio
2 Site Dives AM Dive Trip 7:30AM - approx 1 PM
Cost $454+tax per person
(available most mornings)
1 Site PM Dive Trip 1:30PM Cost $225+tax per person
(not always available unless minimum participants met)
Ocean dives for those age10-14 - Guided at a 1:1 Ratio
2 Site AM Dive Trip 7:30AM- approx 1PM
Cost $525+tax per person
(available most mornings)
1 Site PM Dive Trip 1:30PM Cost $325+tax per person

Can my certified and non-diver friends or family join me on the boat?
Yes! We welcome certified divers, student divers and snorkelers on the same boat. All of our sites feature great things to enjoy for every level. Certified divers are welcome to join our group of certified divers lead by a divemaster. Snorkelers can enjoy a guided snorkel tour of the site by a professional trained in water safety. Ride-alongs who just want to stay on the boat and enjoy the scenery are also welcome. Check our website or give us a call for current pricing.
