Kohala Divers is passionate about ocean conservation and is committed to protecting our oceans and reefs.
HOW DO WE SUPPORT THE ENVIRONMENT?
We are a PADI 100% AWARE Dive Center
We donate a portion of the proceeds for every diver we certify to Project AWARE to help remove debris from our oceans. When you choose Kohala Divers to get your dive certification, know that you are helping to preserve the oceans. Every diver we certify receives a PADI AWARE certification card.
We are recognized as a PADI Eco dive center
We are green fins members This organization constantly monitors our business practices to be sure we are staying up with the most recent approaches to running an eco centric business.
We have adopted 3 dive sites and the Highway near our Kawaihae Location
We have pledged to keep 3 local dive areas clean of debris and to document the trash being removed. We organize regular cleanup events to keep trash out of our dive sites by cleaning the highway before it reaches the sea..
We are Partners with Ocean Defenders Alliance
Partnering with Ocean Defenders Alliance, we are aiming for a debris free sea. We plan bi annual boat cleanups and monthly shore cleanups to remove floating debris, fishing line and ghost fishing gear from the reef. For more information about our partner, visit: Ocean Defenders Alliance.
We are a certified Green Fins Operator
Our dive guides are trained to lead dives according to Green Fins standards. This includes teaching proper buoyancy and a strict no-touch marine life policy. The Green Fins organization is a proven conservation management approach that aims to protect coral reefs through environmentally friendly guidelines promoting sustainable diving and snorkeling.
